Ramp Inspection of Volga-Dnepr's Ilyushin IL-76

09/24/2001

Moscow (Russia), 24 September 2001 - Ilyushin IL-76TD RA-76758, owned and operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines, was checked in Abakan airport in Russis within the framework of the total ramp inspections program undertaken by the Russian State Service for Civil Aviation (RSSCA). This program is aimed at checking the compliance by Russian cargo carriers with loading rules when operating charter and scheduled flights from China, South East Asia and Middle East.

No deficiencies were reported by the inspecting team. The airline is regularly audited by aviation authorities from various countries (including both on-site company audits and aircraft ramp inspections). Volga-Dnepr maintains a record of findings and reports and takes appropriate steps to rectify any deficiencies and make relevant information available to aircrews and maintenance staff. This ensures that the company successfully passes all audits while constantly improving its safety system.

Last week RSSCA field inspectors visited the Ulyanovsk-based head office of the company, as part of an ad hoc audit of all Russian air carriers following recent major accidents. In November 2000, based on the results of the comprehensive inspection program in Russian commercial aviation, to evaluate compliance with ICAO requirements, Volga-Dnepr Airlines was chosen among several Russian airlines for the representative sampling.
