Volga Dnepr Airlines bring UN peace keepers to Congo

Ulyanovsk, 13 November 2001 - Volga Dnepr Airlines have completed the second program this year of airlifting the United Nations peace keeping forces and equipment to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

During two weeks two Volga Dnepr's An-124-100s brought over 1,000 tons of equipment from Libreville (Gabon) to the capital of Congo Kinshasa, including powered vehicles, trucks and automobiles.

Last year Volga Dnepr performed over 70 flights for the UN and became Russia's largest supplier of transportation services to the Organization. This year over 30 flights have been performed, including deliveries of Russian helicopters for the UN peace keeping forces.

Volga Dnepr Airlines have cooperated with the UN since 1992. The carrier has been included in the UN main suppliers register since 1995.
