Tony Bauckham appointed as sales & marketing director of Volga-Dnepr Group

04/25/2004

Volga-Dnepr Group has appointed Tony Bauckham to the position of Sales & Marketing Director to support its long-term strategic development plan.

He joins the airline from Evergreen International Airlines, Inc (USA), where he held the post of Executive Vice President and, previously, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. During a long and successful career in the air logistics sector, Tony Bauckham has also worked for World Aviation Group, Southern Air Transport, ANA Cargo Services and Air Express International.

In his new role, he is based at London’s Stansted Airport with responsibility for all sales and marketing of Volga-Dnepr’s AN-124-100 ‘Ruslan’ freighter fleet, the largest 124 operation in the global outsize and heavyweight air cargo market.

Alexey Isaikin, President of Volga-Dnepr Group, said: “One of our key goals is to continue to attract highly professional managers to our international team. For a long time, we have made a significant investment in the quality of our human resources programme because we recognise that developing our team of people, alongside our investment in fixed assets, leads to business success.”

Tony Bauckham added: “I have watched the development of Volga-Dnepr Group since its inception and I have been impressed by its professionalism, performance and growth. It is my role to lead the sales and marketing team towards the achievement of greater revenues, profitability and market share. I am confident that both the AN-124 and the IL-76 have still not reached their full potential in the worldwide logistics chain.” -more- -2-

This latest appointment reflects Volga-Dnepr’s strategy of hiring the most qualified and experienced western managers into its dynamic business. As part of this commitment, in 2003, Stan Wraight, former Vice President of Atlas Air, was appointed Managing Director of AirBridge Cargo, Volga-Dnepr’s new Boeing 747 scheduled cargo airline. Peter Yap, formerly with China Airlines, also joined the AirBridge management team in Asia.
