President, Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies

Alexey Isaikin was born on September 9th, 1952 in Kyrgyz Republic, USSR and has dedicated his whole life to the aviation industry, specifically focusing on cargo.

He graduated from the Institute of Economics in the city of Irkutsk in 1977, qualifying as a specialist in aircraft industry business and financial management.

During the late 1980s, Alexey Isaikin worked at the Ulyanovsky Aircraft Manufacturing Complex as an executive officer responsible for fulfillment of the USSR Military Air Transportation Department contracts for AN-124 aircraft delivery. It was during those years that the Government announced the shutdown of the AN-124 programme and state financing of full-scale production of the aircraft was stopped, so Alexey Isaikin, the lieutenant colonel of the USSR Air Force at the time, retired from military service.

In 1989, Alexey Isaikin headed an initiative group of entrepreneurs and enthusiasts whose aim was to establish a new cargo aviation company. The activities of the group led to the formation of the Volga-Dnepr company in the city of Ulyanovsk in 1990, and it became the first Russian private airline as well as the first joint-venture in the Ulyanovsk region.

Volga-Dnepr, under Alexey Isaikin’s direction, became a civil customer of AN-124-100 aircraft, thus protecting the developing the future of this unique aircraft.

From the outset of Volga-Dnepr’s operations, Alexey Isaikin has been the head of the enterprise, holding the posts of Chairman of the Board of Volga-Dnepr Joint-Venture, Executive Director and General Director. Since 2002, he has been the President of Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies.

The Volga-Dnepr Group is one of the few public companies which have accumulated a unique experience in military equipment conversion and today a large number of companies and state governments use this experience to their benefit.

Alexey Isaikin carries out a large amount of public work. His main purpose is to strengthen the prestige of Russian civil aviation both inside the country and globally. He is a member of the Russian committee for relations with ICAO and on the Board of the Russian Air Transportation Association.
