Volga-Dnepr Group Announces the Winners of its Fourth International Photo Contest

12/30/2015

Volga-Dnepr Group has announced the winners of its Fourth International Photo Contest to mark its 25th anniversary year. The competition attracted entries from 130 professional and amateur photographers globally as well as over 15,000 visitors from 50 countries to the official website created for the contest.

The competition was organised to find the best photographic images of the Group’s Antonov An-124-100, Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD and Boeing 747 aircraft fleet.

In total, the 130 aviation photographers submitted 380 images to be considered by the judging panel, which included leading aviation photographers Katsuhiko Tokunaga of Japan and Marina Lystseva from Russia. Visitors to the official website at http://photo.volga-dnepr.com were also invited to vote for their favourite photographs of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ and AirBridgeCargo Airlines’ freighters.

Katsuhiko Tokunaga, honorary president of the judging panel, said: “I was glad to be the chairman of judges during the contest devoted to the Group’s 25th anniversary. In 1994, I participated in one of the first air photography assignments for this company. These beautiful photos were awarded with prizes at international photo contests. 20 years later, I help choose the best images of the Group’s fleet. I should say that these aircraft are unique works of art.”

“Volga-Dnepr Group held the contest for professional and amateur aviation photographers for the fourth time. Aircraft mean not only transport and business, but also inspiration. We received a lot of wonderful and amazing works,”, added Marina Lystseva.

Russia’s Mikhail Spirov, with his An-124-100 photograph entitled ‘Ruslan in Surgut’, won the Grand Prix prize of a multi-functional camera backpack.

Anton Kaznacheev of Russia took first place in the An-124-100 category with his magnificent ‘Rainbow’ photograph of the biggest series-produced transport aircraft at an airport in the rain. Austrian photographer Yan Arik Ittensamer won the IL-76TD-90VD category with his entry taken at the Blue Danube Airport. Vladimir Voronov of Russia received the prize for the best Boeing 747 photograph with his image of an AirBridgeCargo aircraft taking off in the rain.

In the open voting that took place on the contest website, two photographers were nominated for special Community Choice Awards. They are India’s Akshay Mantri for his photo of the An-124-100 and Germany’s Daniel Rediger, who won both the IL-76TD-90VD and Boeing 747 Community Choice prizes.

In keeping with its tradition, all of the winning photographs will feature in Volga-Dnepr Group’s corporate calendar for 2016. The winners in each category and the photographers finishing in second and third places will all receive prizes.

We are proud to announce our winners:
