Volga-Dnepr Airlines delivered cargo in a frame of the operations Christmas Child Humanitarian Program

12/15/2001

Ulyanovsk (Russia), December 15, 2001. - Today Volga-Dnepr's An-124-100 "Ruslan" is operating flight on the route New York (JFK airport) - Shannon (Ireland) - Ulyanovsk - Tashkent in a frame of the annual Operations Christmas Child humanitarian program. The aircraft is transporting 90 tons of cargo - toys, clothes, food and medicaments - for Afghan children.

The An-124-100 arrives to Tashkent, where representatives of the Samaritans Purse humanitarian mission, which organized this flight, meet the cargo and transport it to Afghanistan's border regions.

As in the previous years, the presents were collected in Great Britain and USA. Long before Christmas holidays English and American kids collect presents for their peers, who are left without parents, live in poor families, in disaster or war-torn regions. Each parcel is carefully checked and supplemented with additional donations.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has been participating in this program since 1994, when it performed a flight to Yugoslavia. In the following years Volga-Dnepr's aircraft delivered humanitarian cargo to the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Azerbaijan and the Balkans.
