ALEXEY ISAIKIN CELEBRATES HIS 50TH BIRTHDAY

On September 9th, 2002, Alexey Ivanovich Isaikin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Volga-Dnepr Airlines, celebrates his 50th birthday.

Alexey Isaikin devoted all his life to the aviation industry and civil aviation. In 1977 he graduated from the Institute of National Economy in Irkutsk as an economist. Then for 13 years, from 1977 to 1990, he served in the armed forces of the Soviet Union, as a military representative he worked at aircraft manufacturing facilities in Ulan-Ude and Ulyanovsk.

Alexey Isaikin began his career in airfreight in the late 1980s by leading the initiative to establish Volga-Dnepr Airlines. As a result, Volga-Dnepr was formed in 1990 at Ulyanovsk. It was the first Russian private cargo airline and the first joint stock company in the Ulyanovsk region.

From the very beginning of Volga-Dnepr's operations Alexey Isaikin headed the company, holding at different times the positions of the Head of the Executive Board, Executive Director and General Director. In June 2002 he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Volga-Dnepr Airlines. Guided by Alexey Isaikin Volga-Dnepr Airlines has for many years maintained the leading positions in the international superheavy / outsized air cargo market.

Alexey Isaikin's merits and professionalism are widely acknowledged in the professional aviation world. In 1994 he was named Person of the Year by the Russian Biographical Institute in the category "Businessmen and Financiers". Alexey Isaikin was awarded with the Tsiolkovsky Star by the Russian Aerospace Agency for his considerable contribution to the development of Russian civil aviation and for the technical modernisation of the unique An-124-100 freighter. In 1998 Alexey Isaikin was nominated to the position of the Chairman of TIACA's Russia & CIS Chapter.

Alexey is married, he has two daughters and three grandchildren.
