VOLGA-DNEPR GROUP HAS RECEIVED A PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT AEROSPACE INDUSTRY AWARD. THE GROUP HAS BECOME A WINNER IN THE ‘CORPORATE STRATEGY’ NOMINATION.

Moscow (Russia), March 2004. – Volga-Dnepr Group, the leader in the heavyweight and outsized air cargo market, has won one of the most prestigious awards in the global aviation community - Flight Aerospace Industry Award - in the Corporate Strategy category. This Award, given by Flight International, a leading European aerospace journal, is presented annually in ten nominations for contribution to the development of world’s aerospace industry as well as for outstanding achievements in the field.

Volga-Dnepr won the Award for its corporate strategy, aimed at developing the heavyweight and outsized market. In this nomination Volga-Dnepr competed with China Southern (anti-SARS business strategy) and Rolls-Royce (strategy of global support for its products).

“It has been another difficult year for the aviation industry, but our 2004 winners and finalists have pushed the boundaries in an increasingly complex and competitive marketplace,” said Flight Group Editor Kieran Daly.” “I am very pleased that the company has won such a complex nomination as Corporate Strategy. The Award was given to Volga-Dnepr for a trilateral strategy including development of its own global sales and marketing network; a special HR program aimed at developing its staff and recruiting new personnel and realization of the long-term cooperation program. Today Volga-Dnepr is an integral part of the logistic chains of many multinational corporations and has long-term agreements with Lockheed Martin, Exxon Mobile, Alcatel and BP. Volga-Dnepr also provides charter services on behalf of various governmental structures and UN organizations.

Twenty-four aerospace companies and corporations entered the Flight Aerospace Industry Awards in different categories. The winners and finalists of the 2004 Awards were Airbus, Lufthansa, Rockwell Collins, Gulfstream aircraft manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, and the Russian East Line Group (for development of the Domodedovo airport).

Volga-Dnepr Group is the leader in the international heavyweight and outsized air cargo market. It has a fleet of nine AN-124-100s, three IL-76s and six Yak-40s. At present Volga-Dnepr’s staff numbers 1500 employees from different countries of the world.
