06-07-2005 Volga-Dnepr Group transports the world champion Russian Aerobatic Team and their aircrafts

July, 5th, 2005, Moscow, Russia - Volga-Dnepr Group are the proud sponsors of the Russian Aerobatic Team, competing this year at the 23rd World Aerobatic Championships held in Burgos, Spain. Volga-Dnepr Airlines delivered the team and their three Su-26 aircraft to Spain and back to Moscow onboard an IL-76 aircraft. Competing in the championships, which took place on June, 22nd to July, 2nd 2005, were the Russian team, which included many famous sportsmen and women and numerous champions such as Svetlana Kapanina, Elena Klimovich, Svetlana Fedorenko, Sergey Rakhmanin, Oleg Shpoliansky, Victor Chmal, Mikhail Mamistov.

The annual championship is a team competition with separate categories for men and women. The Russian team did exceptionally well winning the team competition, as well as two members of the team being crowned World Champion, Sergey Rakhmanin and Svetlana Kapanina, who won the men’s and women’s categories respectively. The team put their success down to a hard but effective training schedule, a highly professional team and of course the support of their sponsor, Volga-Dnepr. Sergey Rakhmanin, became the World Champion for the second time in a row and Svetlana Kapanina became World Champion for the fifth time in succession.
