Volga-Dnepr Airlines carried patrol boats to Vladivostok for APEC summit

08/10/2012

Volga-Dnepr Airlines delivered two Mangust patrol boats from Moscow to Vladivostok (Russia). The delivery was carried out by Antonov An-124-100 on 9 August 2012.

The boats, 20 meters long and 30 tons each, were loaded into the aircraft using ramp and rails as well as a crane with 110 ton lifting capacity.

Marat Mukhametzyanov, Sales Manager for Russia & Japan says: “Our company has large experience in this kind of deliveries. Volga-Dnepr Airlines dealt with boats, yachts, submarines and submersibles several times. We also arranged the delivery of Mangust type boat to Far East in 2006. Before transferring vessels we discuss all the details with the shipper such as vessel disassembling, loading equipment, and technical specifications. All these issues are vital for safe delivery of cargo.”

The boats were delivered for Russian security agencies. They will join the ranks in the nearest future. First of all they will be used to maintain security at APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit to be held on 1-8 September 2012.

This delivery was performed for Vympel Shipyard. Due to unique aircraft and cargo handling technologies of Volga-Dnepr Airlines the flight was arranged and dispatched in a very short time. Mangust boat is a high-speed water glider designed for territorial sea and coastal operations and intended for use by coast police, customs and fishery protection services.
