Volga-Dnepr Airlines Successfully Passes EU ETS Compliance Audit

ETS Verification GmbH, one of the leading EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance experts conducted an audit of Volga-Dnepr Airlines and confirmed the company’s full compliance with EU ETS requirements.

EU has introduced the greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and reporting system for the aviation industry in 2010, purporting to cover all air carriers operating to/from EU territories. Based on emissions reports for 2010, EU allocated free CO2 allowances among carriers for the period from 2012 to 2020. Those carriers, which exceed their allowances, would have to buy additional emissions certificates from the market. EU regulations contemplate that restrictions to fly to EU countries may be imposed on non-compliant carriers. The emissions monitoring and reporting system was implemented in Volga-Dnepr Airlines in 2010.
