Volga-Dnepr Airlines Received Its Sixth Wings of Russia Award


On 01 April 2008 was announced, that Volga-Dnepr Airlines was nominated for Airline of the Year - Cargo Carrier on Domestic and International Air Routes award and won the Wings of Russia 2007. This decision was announced on the eleventh prize ceremony on 24 of March at Chekhov Academic Art Theater in Moscow. This was the sixth victory won by Volga-Dnepr in Wings of Russia contest. Previously the Company received such prestigious prizes in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2006.

The Wings of Russia is an annual National Aviation Award. The winners are determined by secret ballot voting of the members of the Award Public Board comprised of 120 experts in Civil Aviation industry: representatives of Aviation Authorities, Public and Private Companies, Mass media. The Jury shall evaluate not only the quantitative aspects of Airlines' performance but also the methods of their services market promotion, level of safety level and Customer orientation. This year 29 Russian airlines participated in the contest.

After the awarding Gennady Pivovarov who headed Volga-Dnepr till October 2007 made a short speech. "We would like to thank the Public Board members for their appreciation of the Airline's achievements, - he said.

"The real security of Volga-Dnepr's victory was the flawless professional work of all our team. Flight crews and ground engineers deserve my special gratitude. The policy of leadership, which has long been the basic strategy of Volga-Dnepr, is the foundation where all our numerous and undoubted achievements rest at.

The award was another proof of the company business value unconditionally recognized by social and professional communities. The Award sponsors and facilitators stated their confidence in that the Volga-Dnepr's successful business will more than once provide grounds for and reasonably justify the honorable title received by continued consolidation of the Company positions in the Domestic and International Air Cargo Market.
