Volga-Dnepr delivers aid

One of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ new IL-76TD-90VD freighters has delivered 15 tons of humanitarian aid for victims of Hurricane Gustav on behalf the Spanish Red Cross.

The aircraft from Madrid brought medical supplies, shelters, air conditioning units and other necessary supplies. Hurricane Gustav killed more than 80 people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and caused an estimated US$ 15 billion of damage. Dennis Gliznoutsa, Volga-Dnepr’s group commercial director (charters), said: “Within 24 hours of receiving Chapman Freeborn’s instructions, we had an IL-76TD-90VD freighter positioned in Madrid ready for loading. The priority for everyone involved was to ensure the aid reached the people suffering from the effects of this enormous hurricane as quickly as possible and we achieved this objective.”
